Abstract

This project paper is to analyse and understand Musang King Durian (MSKD) for its fruit, plantation, and market, especially its export to the China market. A comparison is also made with Thailand’s Monthong durian. Research findings are used to recommend solutions to the identified challenges. Porter’s Five Forces model and SCCMT are applied to provide in-depth figures supporting the proposed recommendations. The study includes a projection of China’s durian market size in 2030, identifying that Malaysia’s MSKD is capable of achieving 10 percent of China’s market share. This achievement is significant for Malaysia’s MSKD plantation industry. The research aims to identify challenges faced by MSKD plantations, analyse key issues, and develop proposals. It further examines Malaysia’s MSKD export to China and the key factors required for approval. The study also seeks to understand the current supply chain logistics model and propose improvements.
